Review: GiiNii Artforme 7 inch Digital Picture Frame
Written on Jan 18, 2010 by Malcolm Reynolds and filed under Featured, GiiNii, Reviews
One of the side effects to reviewing many different digital picture frames is that I start to expect more and more from a typical picture frame. The latest digital media frames handle photos, video, music, and stream content via Wi-Fi. That’s why I was amazed to see the affordable GiiNii ArtForme Digital Picture Frame (model GN-705W) keeps things surprisingly simple. This picture frame is just a picture frame … nothing more and nothing less.

Kodak was the first to release an OLED digital picture frame in September of last year. The 7.6″ frame debuted at $999 but has since worked it’s way down to the high $700’s. T-Mobile Quietly Pushing Cameo to Pasture?
Written on Mar 15, 2009 by Brian and filed under News, T-Mobile
T-Mobile released the Cameo digital picture frame last year in a move that was questionable. The 7″ frame wasn’t spectacular and not only did it cost $100, but you had to pay $10/month to get images sent to it via email address. There were other problems too, like you had to have a T-Mobile cell phone plan as well. It looks like T-Mobile has finally given up on their ridiculous experiment, the Cameo is not available online any longer and is on clearance at local stores.

At CES this year Pandigital unveiled two new frames in their PanTouch Clear line, one basic 7″ model and an 8″ model with wireless Internet access. They haven’t even made it to market yet and Pandigital is adding to the line with the 10.4″ PanTouch Clear. It’s only one third of an inch thick and includes Wi-Fi. We just wish Pandigital would spend more time thinking about product names, PAN1000DWPCF2 doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue.

Written on Feb 26, 2009 by Brian and filed under Knowledge Base, News
NPR aired a report recently about electricity waste with tech products, specifically digital picture frames. They’re right, as we’ve said all along, most digital frames waste an extreme amount of energy since they’re rarely turned off. And while we praise those that offer auto shutoff features, very few include that option.
