Sony Intros New S-Frame Digital Picture Frames

Sony has introduced three new S-Frame digital photo frames featuring high-res LED screens and video playback capabilities along with a battery-operated model. The company also introduced eight new mainstream models.

CEIVA Pro 80 Released

CEIVA has released a new 8″ WiFi enabled digital picture frame, the Pro 80. The standard aspect ratio screen features a 640×480 pixel resolution, multi card reader and modem, if you’re not ready for WiFi. Unfortunately even though the Pro 80 comes with a year of service free, to access the online features, users have to pony up $10/month ($7/month if paid annually) for the CEIVA PicturePlan service once the free year expires.

CEIVA Announces CEIVA Sender Facebook Application

CEIVA has launched a new Facebook application to make it easy to share your online Facebook photos with your CEIVA digital picture frame. The CEIVA Sender application lets Facebook users select images to send directly to their frames.

Ceiva Releases CEIVAlife and CEIVAshare 8″ Connected Digital Frames

Ceiva has released two new digital picture frames that are geared toward easily sharing photos with friends and family. Ceiva’s interactive frames feature PicturePlan, a subscription service that allows images to be automatically delivered to the CEIVAlife and CEIVAshare frames.

Frame Media Fires Back at Ceiva, “Your Patent Isn’t Valid Anyway”

Frame Media has issued a press release indicating they plan in fighting Cevia’s claim that Frame Media is infinging on their patent that essentially covers serving images to a digital picture frame over a network of some kind. The patent was issued in 1999 and does appear to be a bit broad by today’s standards.

Ceiva Sues Over Digital Frame Patent

Ceiva has filed suit against Frame Media, Inc. and Digital Spectrum Solutions, Inc. for patent infringement. Specifically, it’s patent 6,442,573 filed in December of 1999 that sounds as if it covers any digital picture frame that obtains content remotely via a network of some kind.
