Lite On Skyla Memoir – Digital Frame with Scanner – At CeBit

We brought you the news of the Skyla Memoir back in November. At the time we didn’t suspect the digital picture frame with scanner would be making it to the US, but it’s on display at CeBit this week, at least proving it’s going to be market ready soon enough.
The idea of a frame with built-in scanner isn’t entirely crazy, most people don’t have scanners in their homes. But even though the Memoir scans at 600 DPI, it’s size is somewhat limiting, as it can only handle photos up to 4×6. Still, it’s a fun party trick and in a market where innovation is slow, we like the direction.
Other spec highlights include an 8″ 800×600 standard aspect ratio screen with 1GB of internal memory. There’s also a multi-card reader and both a USB and mini-USB port.
Lite On seems prepared to offer the Memoir this spring at a projected price of roughly $225 if it were available in the US. Lite On does a lot of digital frame work for HP though, so it may be that we see the HP name on it for a US release.
