DIY Digital Frame Mod with IKEA Style

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to many digital picture frames, we can often agree that few are really great looking frames. Whether it’s cheap black plastic or fake wood, frame design often leaves a lot to be desired. That’s where a cheap IKEA frame and a little DIY effort come in.

Graham Jupp at FrameBug has put together a very detailed set of instructions. He started with the IKEA fame you see above and a generic 8″ frame with decent display specs. The end result, 17 steps later, is actually quite solid and much better looking than what he started with. Just keep this helpful hint from Graham in mind when it comes to trying to hide the power cord:

DO NOT ATTEMPT ELECTRICAL WORK YOURSELF IF NOT QUALIFIED TOUCHING LIVE WIRES MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.
