Isabella Vizit Digital Frame with Mobile Network Connection Announced

Written on Jan 11, 2009 by Brian and filed under Isabella, News

Isabella  has released the Vizit digital picture frame. While we honestly aren’t familiar with Isabella, the Vizit frame is pretty compelling, largely because it enables users to send and receive digital photos over a mobile network. Sure you have to pay for the service, but the Vizit frame looks better than the competing T-Mobile Cameo and offers a larger display and more flexibility.

Vizit’s hook is that you can easily snap a shot with a camera phone then send the picture right to the frame. Visit isn’t the first frame to do such a thing, even with cell networks, the T-Mobile Cameo does such a thing already. But Vizit is larger, at 10.4″ and promises to have a better interface and more flexibility.

Part of the flexibility comes in when multiple Vizits are engaged. Users can send pictures from one Vizit to another Vizit, or even multiple Vizits, enabling them to build a community of friends and family who are sharing their lives all at the same time. The Vizit can also accept pictures via email and online photo sharing sites.

Vizit starts with a 10.4” full-touch LCD screen that displays a unique “carousel” menu. The menus, which can be seen in part in the image above, allow for quick and easy management of photos. Isabella has also created a desktop widget that allows the user to upload photos to their Vizit simply by dragging and dropping them onto the widget. There’s also an online component that allows Vizit owners to fully manage their photos online and on their frame, including editing captions, tags and slideshows, archiving photos, and inviting friends and family to share their photo albums.

Vizit will be available this spring in gunmetal with black or rosewood accents, and silver with white or teak accents. The retail price is expected at $299, plus a monthly subscription fee which has not yet been determined. T-Mobile charges $10/month for their service, we’d expect Isabella to come in near that same price.
