Lite-On IT Memoir Announced – Digital Frame with Built-In Scanner

Written on Nov 14, 2008 by Brian and filed under News

Lite-On IT has announced the Memoir, an 8″ frame that includes a built-in scanner. While there are now several digital frames that offer embedded printers, this is the first frame to include a scanner for sending physical pictures to the frame’s internal memory, or storage card.

The Memoir is going to be marketed under the Skyla brand in Taiwan and eventually globally. It’s unlikely that we’ll see a US release however unless Lite-On includes this technology in a frame for HP or Sony, who Lite-On makes digital frames for.

The scanner works at 1200×1800 pixels, or roughly 2 megapixels. While these images won’t be good enough for printing, they should display just fine on the frame. The frame will also feature a multi-card reader and 1GB of internal storage. [via DigiTimes]
