Picwing Digital Picture Frame and Sharing Service Launched

Picwing, with funding from Y Combinator, launched last week. The Picwing service essentially lets you set up an email address on the site where you, or your approved contributors, can email pictures that will show up on your Picwing digital picture frame, Chumby, PC or embedded in a website.
The service is free and really gives a nice element of control to the users, especially those who manage frame content for someone else, like parents. If they use a computer, the whole thing can be set up for free, and relatives from all over can flood Grandma’s PC with memories.
If you want the Picwing wireless frame though, it’s a pricey $249. You also have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery, and the current hardware is beta only, so there could be issues along the way. At least Picwing will send you a final build when they’re done, swapping it for your Beta model. The 7″ frame is wireless, and the Picwing team has focused on making sure the software is easy to use. Once the frame is properly configured, it should be a breeze to send pictures to the frame’s email address for effortless updating, assuming there’s a wireless network for it to connect to.
The Picwing service is free to set up and use, create an account here.
